The gallery was established as a commercial venture in June 2000. It comprises of the 2 upper floors of a grand Victorian building in the centre of Falmouth with access onto the main shopping street. In 12 months we have achieved considerable success in terms of critical feedback, publicity and local support.

The ultimate concept of the gallery has been to capitalize on Cornwall's rich heritage in the visual arts in order to promote contemporary artists within the county to a level of prominence enjoyed by their counterparts in London and other major cities.

In order to distinguish us from the mainstream gallery genre of traditional Cornish scenes the choice of artwork displayed in the gallery has been fundamental to remain true to this original concept.

Now seems to be the time/more than any other when artists can be true to themselves in what they produce, rather than being dictated to by the buying public or the commissioning aristocracy.

Whether you agree with the BRIT artists of the late 20 C or not there is no doubting that they have revolutionized the way the public now perceives art. This leaves open doors to use traditional mediums in a way that has never been widely understood or accepted in the past.

The gallery aims to maintain a varied programme of exhibitions that has emphasis on the more innovative and progressive works of art as opposed to the more traditional work associated with Cornish art.
